bye, bye baby

tonight at 11:11 pm my baby will turn two. two whole years have elapsed since we welcomed our baby boy to the world. i remember being so nervous to have a boy. i am a woman, i have a daughter – i know what to do with a girl. while i am thrilled to have both a daughter and a son, i have never been the type to “have to have a son.” of course, now that he is in my life i am so thankful to be a mother to a little boy – a dirty, rough and tumble, adventurous, sweet, heart-melting, kiss-giving son. how i adore that child.

here are just a couple of reasons why i love him so.

says “oh dear” whenever he drops or cannot find something
says “ta da” whenever he finds what he was looking for or has done something incredibly cute
asks “maren sleeping?” each morning when he wakes
blesses someone when they sneeze
has a very serious “mad” face
gives the best kisses and hugs
has a gentle heart and is genuinely compassionate
loves to sing
has some killer dance moves
is intelligent and wise
is curious and adventurous
and on and on and on….
