kindergarten registration

last monday i registered maren for kindergarten.  i went to the office with her birth certificate, immunization record and two forms proving our residence.  i filled out the required forms, took a kindergarten information packet and was told that we would receive more information in the summer regarding orientation, ect.  (we missed the parent only orientation because we were in florida.)

when i was finished, i went back to my car, got in and sat for a few moments.  i admit that while i did not cry, i did get teary eyed.  for a moment, i had to collect myself and remind myself that this is a good thing.  my daughter loves school, she is intelligent, curious, friendly and needs to be with her peers – learning. 

but, if i could i’d keep her and her brother their present ages – just a little bit longer – i would.  i have finally learned to savor and appreciate the little moments with them.  how can i document them, hold them close to me forever?
